Clubs
This program was a wonderful experience. This was my first year being in this program and I will be continuing this program for the next 2 years of my highschool career. I had a lot of fun being in this program and it comes with many benefits, such as a $150 scholarship.
I am apart of my highschool Mock Trial Team. This was my 2nd year on the team and I was a witness for the second time as well. I really enjoy being a witness because we get to incorporate acting skills. In the beginning, I joined Mock Trial to increase my public speaking skills and I wanted to be apart of a competitive environment. The image above was taken right after we finished our first round in regionals. This is an image of the whole team together.
I am apart of my highschool Math team. 10th grade year was my first year on the team in highschool, but I was apart of this team in 8th grade and that's when I met new people apart of the highschool I go to now. It was fun to be apart of. The Math team was not always my biggest priority because I was apart of other clubs. Later on, we found out the math competition, along with everything else, had been cancelled. Therefore, I do not have any pictures of the team. There is one photo from the yearbook, but I haven't gotten it yet.
I am also apart of my highschool Asian Student Association club. This is my first-year with the club. I originally joined this club because my friend wanted me to. I decided to join and the purpose of this club is to showcase a short performance for the entire school during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month, which is in May. The performance consisted of a skit, a game, martial arts performance, and a dance. Unfortunately, we aren't able to perform in May due to Covid-19. I had a lot of fun in this club though.
I am apart of my highschool Mu Alpha Theta club. This is like a math honors society. They only accept 10th-12th graders, so this was my first-year apart of the club. We did a lot of community service, hosting events at school, and tutoring. It was pretty fun. It mainly consisted of Seniors. The image above is the logo of our Mu Alpha Theta t-shirts.
I was apart of my highschool Varsity Tennis Team in the 2018-2019 school year. During that year, I decided to join the Tennis team and I was really excited to be apart of it, but it conflicted with Mock Trial. Before Tennis, I devoted a lot of my extracurricular time to Mock Trial. Especially since competition was around the corner, the team didn't let me spend my time in another activity. Therefore, I decided not to join Tennis for the 2019=2020 school year. The picture above is the picture of my racket. I like it because it's lightweight, so my wrist doesn't get hurt.
I was choosen to be apart of the 2020 FLAG Spoken Language Contest for Chinese 2. I orginally didn't want to be apart of this competition, but my teacher really wanted me to be apart of it and I didn't want to let her down. After a month of joining, we found out that the competition was canceled due to Covid-19. I bet I would've won the superior medal if I had gone too :(.
Lastly, I am apart of my highschool Senior Beta Club. This was my first-year with the club, but I was in it 8th grade year. I really liked being apart of this club. We hosted events at the school and did community service. The first community service I did with the club was reading to 1st-2nd graders on Dr. Suess's birthday.
